I will always remember my first visit with Dr. Hester. I knew I had prostate cancer and as an 85 year old male that is not good. He came in and talked to me and I know I was quite concerned and just before he turned to leave he turned back to me and said: "Don't worry, I'm going to take great care of you & you'll be fine" You cannot believe how wonderful that made me feel and my wife feel. Dr. Hester told me a year and a half ago that his practice would take care of me. I had been diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Hester held up to this and as of today I don't have to go back to him for a year. I would highly recommend Houston Metro Urology to anyone. Dr. Hester is honest and to the point. He has fantastic people skills. The staff are all tremendous people as well. I left my appointment today happy that I am now healthy, but also sad I won't see any of these great people now for a year

Could not be better!!! I arrived at 2:25 for a 2:40 appointment. Was checked in immediately. My wait to be called in to do preliminary workups was less than 10 minutes.The nurse advised of all preliminary work to be done which was started immediately. Process took about 15-20 minutes.I was told that Dr. Hester would be in shortly which turned out to be true. We had our usual greetings, discussed family status and then got to the problems at hand.Dr. Hester advised that he was going to write RX for an oral medication which he felt might help reduce my symptoms.We chatted for a few more minutes and I was directed to the check-out station. An appointment was made, and I was givena 30-day supply of the new drug.I have given a reasonably accurate accounting of one visit.Sometimes the waits are longer etc. but well worth the relationship and trust that I have for Dr. G. Hester.Dr. H cared for me and tried every non-invasive procedure he knew of. They didn't work-I was left with 2 options-Removal of the Prostate or Radiation Therapy. I choose the radiation, and it worked. I've been in remission for over eleven years.Then he tackled my dear wife who had Bladder Cancer that had mastisized. Here again he tried noninvasive procedures that didn't work.Given this finding he called his mentor at MDANDERSON where he had performed his residency in Urology under the head surgeon in the Urology Department.It worked!!!!!Why all the accolades-Simple The office staff is very wellcoordinated, friendly and makes you feel comfortable regardless of your being an old timer or a new patient.Dr. Hester loves his work, once he is there the visit is usually as long as it takes to accomplish what you need as well as his medical dialogue.I drive the 90-mile RT.I have provided a birds- eye view of why I travel from the Woodlands area. Thats 90 miles RT and at least 2 hours of time in travel.Why when I live close to Methodist, Memorial Herman ,ST. Lukesand HCA Conroe did I follow him to the city?Simple-He cares, he answers all questions that allowed me to leave the office feeling very comfortable about my status.DR. Hester is the only MD I have worked with at HU. Scheduling staff worked with me to get the soonest possible appointment. I did not have to wait long on the day of the appointment. Dr. Hester called me personally to explain my test results the very next day. Then, I had additional questions so I called the office back the next day. A staff member called me back within an hour, and then Dr. Hester called me afterwards to check in and make sure I understood. This type of patient care is almost nonexistent these days. At my appointment, Dr Hester had a disarming sense of humor, was knowledgeable, and helpful. He had practical, helpful advice. His medical assistant was also wonderful - friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Dr Hester. You saved my life.Years ago I had Bladder Cancer. When I was told about the Cancer I was devastated. Dr. Hester was sympathetic and professional and walked me thru the surgery and the recovery process. He removed the Cancerous Tumor and put me into chemo therapy and conducted follow up sessions with me.It’s been over 14 years now and still cancer free.You are the best. I have used Dr. Hester for over 5 years, originally to treat a potential kidney stone which turned out to be a false alarm, for the prevention of urinary issues. He has always been professional and takes great care to explain his findings and recommendations. He does not rush into treatment for the sake of treatment - instead he always offers alternatives (with any pros and cons of each) to allow me to understand and be involved in the decision. Dr Hester. Is the best in his field. He literally saved my life. I had the good fortune. Of encountering. Dr Hester. 15 yrs ago. When he was chief of urology. At the county hospital. LBJ. His prompt diagnosis of a severe kidney infection saved my life. Id been plagued with the problem for over a year. Several visits to many doctors only to be misdiagnosed. I find Dr. Hester to be most personable. The first time I saw him was concerning a Hydrocele approx. 10 years ago. Simple day surgery. Next was recently concerning prostate issues and some difficulty with incontinence. Prescribed a drug that acted like a miracle! After the first dose I was again in complete control of my bladder. One of the best Doctors out there, operated on me and made me fill completely at ease. See him monthly and his staff is second to nonealways get back to me when I have a question. Do not know about the negative comments about this place but I have been going here coming up on two years and without exception a top notch facility and the Doctor is second to none. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer over four years ago and was referred to Dr. Hester. Best decision I ever made. I could not have been in better hands then or now. I still see him in follow ups. In order to do that I fly in from Midland, Texas to see him. I would not trust anyone else with my health. They have always accommodated my travel plans to see Dr. Hester with follow up appointments. Not everyone may appreciate Dr. Hester’s direct communication style, but as someone who values clear and straightforward information, I truly respect and trust his approach. He gets straight to the point without overloading me with confusing medical jargon, which I find very helpful and refreshing. I’ve never felt the need to second-guess his advice or care. I trust him completely. I have no complaints and would highly recommend him to anyone who prefers honesty, clarity, and a no-nonsense approach to their healthcare.
