Recommendation for evaluation of a PAE
We want to inform you of important next steps in managing your symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Given the persistence of your symptoms despite medical therapy, we are recommending that you be evaluated for a minimally invasive procedure known as Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE).
PAE is a procedure performed by an interventional radiologist that aims to reduce the size of the prostate and improve urinary symptoms by restricting blood flow to the prostate. This treatment is considered a less invasive alternative to surgical procedures such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and has shown promising results for patients with similar symptoms.
HMU has partnered with Dr. Andrew Doe with Alate Health Vein & Vascular Clinic (Museum District/E. Houston) and Dr. Poyan Rafiei with Texas I. R. (Katy) for evaluation and consideration of this procedure. Both Dr. Doe and Dr. Rafiei specialize in performing PAE and will determine if you are a suitable candidate. During the consultation, he will discuss the procedure, its potential benefits, and any associated risks in detail.
Next steps for your PAE:
- A PAE staff member will call you to schedule a consultation. Please call the PAE Center if you do not hear from them within 7 days.
