Rita Tibbs MD, a board certified uropathologist, leads our laboratory services team

Our board certified lab director has been working collaboratively with our Houston urologists since 2006. Prior to joining our practice, Rita Tibbs MD worked at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, specializing in genitourinary pathology. Dr. Rita Tibbs does work behind the scenes that contributes to our patients’ health and well-being. She partners with physicians and staff to help develop the best, most comprehensive treatment plans for the men and women we see. Dr. Tibbs is skilled in providing laboratory diagnoses for urologic cancers, including bladder, prostate and testicular cancer.

Dr. Tibbs’ educational credentials are outstanding

For undergraduate and medical school, Rita Tibbs MD attended St. Louis University in the Philippines. She completed her pathology residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. For her uropathology fellowship, Dr. Rita Tibbs chose the esteemed MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

She is board certified in anatomic pathology with specialty training in genitourinary pathology.

Dr. Tibbs enjoys spending time with her amazing daughter, traveling and taking nature walks.

When our Houston urologists established Houston Metro Urology in 2006, they wanted to provide the most complete urology care for patients. One critical component of this comprehensive care was a diagnostic laboratory. Rita Tibbs MD employs her expertise and training every day to help patients.
